High above the Bay of Kotor lies a hidden network of Austro-Hungarian fortresses, tunnels, and military roads built to defend one of the Adriatic's most strategic harbours.
On this guided hike we leave the busy Old Town behind and climb into the limestone mountains to explore these forgotten places. Following historic military paths along panoramic ridgelines, we visit Fortress Goražda, pass through tunnels carved directly into the rock, and discover hidden artillery positions overlooking the Bay.
Along the way your guide shares stories of the region's history and landscape while keeping a relaxed and steady pace. The result is a unique combination of hiking, history, and spectacular scenery far above the crowds of Kotor.

Itinerary
- Meeting: We meet at a starting point in the Bay of Kotor area. The exact meeting location and time are confirmed after booking.
- Ascent into the mountains: The hike begins on historic mountain paths climbing steadily above Kotor. As we gain elevation, sweeping views open across the Bay and surrounding mountains.
- Fortresses, tunnels & viewpoints: Following old Austro-Hungarian military roads, we explore fortress ruins, tunnels carved into the rock, and hidden artillery positions. There are regular stops for photos, orientation, and stories from the landscape.
- Return: After exploring the fortifications and enjoying the panoramic views, we descend back toward the starting point. The full experience lasts approximately 3–4 hours.
